The Maldives
I mean…. i don’t really need to elaborate on how spectacular The Maldives are. The most lust after honeymoon destination for obvious reasons.
What i didn’t realise was this is an incredible family destination too! So i will fill you in on how wonderful this particular resort is that we were lucky enough to enjoy.
The Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma caters to families with children, offering a clean, fun, air conditioned 2 storey kids club kitted out with a giant ball pit, playstation, library, indoor swings, sleeping quarter and the best part… friendly, caring staff :)
Kids aged 12 and under stay for free when sharing their parents’ room. Up to four kids ages 12 and under can eat free any time of the day in any holiday inn on-site restaurant.
Outside the kids club is a really cool water play area with slides and outdoor activity area.
Bella learnt how to snorkel this trip and she is addicted, so much so that she uses her snorkel in my brothers pool and in our bath tub at home!
There’s endless choices of fun activities to choose from while you stay there. We did surfing, sunset boat cruise (the kids loved the dolphins swimming next to the boat!) , paddle boarding, snorkeling and swimming with manta rays and sharks (one of the coolest experiences i’ve ever had)
A huge attraction to this particular island is the surfing. There’s a great break right off the island or you can jump on a boat ride out to some great swells.
My husband was playing in a band so we got to dance to live music a few of the nights which is organised by
https://www.surfmusicinparadise.com/ They bring out great musicians to the resort and offer amazing packages. They have had Bernard Fanning and Tex Perkins in the past. Coming up is Richard Clapton & Daryl Braithwaite, Xavier Rudd and Jimmy Barnes :)
I think the really special thing about going to the Maldives with kids is that they get to be immersed in nature. My girls learnt more about the environment and really appreciated the beauty around them. They obsessed over the cute crabs on the beach, the tiny hermit crabs, the reef sharks being fed in the water near the restaurant, the dolphins, and the fish that you can see through the crystal clear water surrounding the resort.
I’m not quite sure the girls realise how lucky they are to have experiences like this, but i know they will definitely treasure these moments for the rest of their lives, and i hope the photos i take on our trips will remind them of how much fun they had!!
