Southern Highlands, NSW
One of the most beautiful places in the world
As soon as you step out into the crisp, clean unmistakable air of the Southern Highlands your body will immediately start rejuvenating. I’m not kidding. It must be the gorgeous landscape of rolling hills and the vast expanse of beautiful trees that make the air quality unbeatable. Well… it’s a definitely a welcome change from the city smog!
If you get the opportunity or the time to go and stay in the Southern Highlands, whether it be Berrima or Bowral, you must stay longer than 1 night.
There are many great cafes and restaurants full of quality produce and exceptional food!
My favourite places are -
Berkelouw book barn (a gorgeous winery/bookstore/restaurant/awesome place to relax by a huge open fire!) http://berkelouw.com.au/stores/book-barn it’s part of Bendooley Estate.
Bespoke Letterpress (a really beautiful stationary store/cafe/ has the best dulce de leche donuts!) https://bespokepress.com.au/
Toshi’s Japanese in Mittagong https://www.toshis.com.au/ (A family favourite)
Berrima Village Pottery (gorgeous handmade local pottery)https://www.berrimavillagepottery.com/
The Little Hand Stirred Jam Shop (Best local honey) https://the-little-hand-stirred-jam-shop.myshopify.com/
Josh’s Cafe and The magpie are great too!
Dirty Janes, Antique store in Bowral
As far as things to do, there are lots of wineries to visit, you could see the glow worms at Wombeyan caves, or take the kids to Harper’s Mansion in Berrima where there’s a beautiful garden and a huge hedge maze (my girls always have the best time here!) There’s the famous tulip festival every year in September or you could check out some local farms. I haven’t been to The Farm Club yet, but it looks great for the kids! http://www.farmclubaustralia.com.au/#about-home
If you love Antique shopping, Bowral and Mittagong have a bunch of beautiful shops that you can wonder through!
The Southern Highlands is romantic for couples and fun for families with kids!
Bendooley Estate, Clubbe Cottage, Milton Park, Peppers and Hillview Heritage Hotel all look exceptional for accomodation! But if you know of a cute bed and breakfast let me know!!! :)
